Private CompanyThe ZoomIn Academy (ZI) is seeking internationally-minded educators to join their industry-leading program which prepares Chinese students for success in Western HEIs by developing their self-awareness and skills in self-reflection. ZI understands 'critical thinking' as more than creative problem solving—it also encompasses the ability to construct meaning from social experience with critical attention to one's positionality and subjectivities. In other words, ZoomIn is concerned with building students' critical intercultural competence.
The Program
ZI starts working with students as early as grade 9, coaching students for academic success, awareness of self and others, and personal development. On the road to grade 12, ZI students receive tons of one-on-one coaching as well as group workshops on reflective writing, social identities, and intercultural competence. Each summer rising seniors all participate in ZI's intensive self-reflection workshop in which they tackle and process a history of life experiences and thereby form a tangible self image. Finally, throughout students' senior year, students are coached through the college application process with critical attention to the self they are constructing and presenting through narrative personal essays, supplemental materials, and interviews.
