Private CompanyThe Poem For You is a popular cultural project that takes poetry as a messenger to connect with humanity, and to stimulate, foster and promote people’s interest in poetry.
The project is co-initiated in June 2013 by China’s twenty most influential figures—Mr. Robin Li (Founder and CEO of Baidu Company), Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang (President of Baidu and Former Senior Vice President of Microsoft Global), Mr. Yang Yuanqing (Chairman of Lenovo), and Mr. Lang Lang (Pianist) among others.
Participants of “The Poem For You” are of different backgrounds, for instance, ambassadors, heads of state, senior government officials, artists, and the genera public. The Poem For You attracted attention from home and abroad, serving as a bridge for Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges.
It integrates poetry with different art forms such as music, dancing, painting and theatre. It inspires the society to view poetry as an art form no longer outdated or reserved only for literary circles, but a common lifestyle and a spiritual pillar for everyone.
Every night at 10P.M. we release a poem program on WeChat (China's trendiest social media), inviting 1-2 guests to read poems. To date we released over 1,100 broadcasts contributed by over 500 personages from across backgrounds.
The poetry programs are also broadcasted in other media platforms, such as China National Radio, CCTV, and China's major Internet FM channels. So far we have reached 500-million audiences in China and abroad. Participants come from different fields, such as commerce, finance, humanities, fine arts, media, sports, governments, NGO, etc.
On April 25th, 2014, with support of The Royal Danish Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of P.R.C., we broadcast a poetry program contributed by China’s First Lady Madam Peng Liyuan and Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, as a gift for the young.
Aside from daily broadcasts, The Poem For You hosts poetry-themed activities and events in China and abroad.
