Nonprofit OrganizationShangrila Farms is a social enterprise that brings you the finest in natural food and beverage. We take great care in selecting the most delicious, purest natural products to give our customers a healthier alternative. Consuming natural foods has wide ranging benefits for health—switching to organic and natural foods is an easy way to minimize the toxins our bodies have to cope with in the modern world.
We are also committed to giving back to our community. We donate a portion of profits to our non-profit partner, the Yunnan Mountain Heritage Foundation, to support projects in poverty alleviation, cultural preservation and community service in mountainous Yunnan province. We also offer trainings to our producers and buy at fair trade prices. We also advocate organic farming in every way possible and choose products with minimal impact on local ecology. We see Shangrila Farms as a business in support of rural incomes and biodiversity in poor rural areas.
Our first products are gourmet coffee and pure honey. Our coffee is grown organically in the pristine environment of a nature reserve at altitudes of 2000 to 4000 meters. We work with a collective of farmers buying at fair trade prices, providing fresh organic grade beans. Our honey is made by bees from wildflowers with strong health benefits. Our bees are kept in pristine mountain areas and in nature reserves where pesticides and chemicals are forbidden.
Shangrila Farms puts quality first. Taste, purity, careful cultivation, protecting our environment and supporting our farmers are all crucial parts of this quality. We love our coffee and honey and hope you do too.
Our products are distributed in over 10 cities. Our client portfolio includes companies such as Microsoft, Unilever, Sodexo, the Mandarin Oriental and the Four Seasons. We have developed over 150 sales channels in the areas of hotels, offices and grocery stores. The Company has earned over 100 media opportunities with domestic and international TV, radio, magazines and newspapers to date. The Founders were invited speakers at TEDx Great Wall 2012, received the
China Right Here 2010 Award for contribution to biodiversity, and a “Certificate of Appreciation” from the Dr. Jane Goodall Institute in 2010. One of the Founders was an Asia Finalist for the Cartier Woman’s Initiative Award held in Deauville, France in 2009.
The social impact of Shangrila Farm positively benefited 1000 farmers in rural Yunnan, China. We are looking for actively engaged interns that are ready to make significant contributions.
