University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a research university which is situated in Hefei, Anhui, China under the Chinese Academy dealing with Sciences. It was founded in Beijing by the Chinese Academy dealing with Sciences in September 1958. The University is a part of the C9 League, which was formed by the top nine universities in China. USTC was established with the main purpose to identify ways to find solutions to common problems of the country in the field of economics, defense, technology, and science. The core skills of the University lie in research in fields of technology and science but recently it has expanded into management and humanities as well.
USTC is located at 96 Jinzhai Road Baohe District Hefei 34 230026 China. Earlier it was based in Beijing but due to the Cultural Revolution, it was later moved to the present location.
According to the world university rankings for the year 2016, the ranking of the university lies in the range of 201-250.

The university boasts of imparting education to 13,794 students which comprise of 3,873 master’s students, more than 100 postdoctoral fellows, 8,243 undergraduate students, and 1,498 Ph.D. students.

USTC is the proud owner of three reputed national level research institutes and six laboratories. Big research institutes like the CAS Research Centre for Thermal Safety Engineering and Technology are a part of this huge education centre. Ever since the University was founded, it has taken up a huge number of national, state and provincial level research projects. Its participation in the CAS Experimental Program of Knowledge Innovation has made easy the achievement of research targets in basic level research in multiple fields like science and technology, information and life science, fire science and scientific investigation and research.

In the last few years, this University has been a part of national major scientific programs which include the project conducted for National Synchrotrons Radiation Lab, also known as HT-7U Super-conducting Tokomak.
