National Tsing Hua University is a public non-profit university situated in the suburban setting of the small city of Hsinchu City. NTSU has such a long and very proud history. In 1911, it was first established in Beijing as Tsing Hua Academy. This was the time when Chinese and Western civilizations clashed and in 1928, the Academy was renamed to National Tsing Hua University. It then expanded its curricular into a full-fledged university. NTHU was reinstalled on its current campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan.

National Tsing Hua University has developed into a comprehensive research university since it relocated, offering a wide range of degrees in engineering, humanities, social sciences, management, and technology. NTHU has consistently ranked as one of the premier universities in the Eastern part of China, and it’s a well-renowned university for future leaders leading incubator.
NTHU is conveniently located in Hsinchu, better known as the “Silicon Valley of Taiwan.” It is quite close to the Hsinchu-based Industrial Park and an hour’s drive away from Taipei. National Tsing Hua University places much emphasis on the interdisciplinary approach. It not only upholds basic standards but has also designed the undergraduate curricula to maximize integration and flexibility. The University surpasses the expected curricula norms going beyond the departmental boundaries and transcending collegiate.

Outstanding Disciplinary Influence
NTHU is made up of seven colleges, seventeen departments, and nineteen independent institutes. The colleges include the College of Engineering, College of Science, College of Nuclear Science, College of Life Sciences, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Technology Management, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Commission of General Education. The undergraduate curricula at NTHU are designed with maximum flexibility in mind so as to accommodate diverse student interests as well as facilitating interdisciplinary training.
NTHU also offers a well-balanced general education curriculum to enhance artistic and humanistic cultivation. Also, to promote aesthetic education, the university has established an arts center. As a member of the University system of Taiwan which is a research-led university alliance, NTHU allows students to apply for transfers or take courses within the UST system. This would mean that any outstanding NTHU student is allowed to enroll directly in a doctoral program offered at another university which is a UST member. Also, there are several dual degree programs offered at a graduate level between NTHU and its partner universities.
Fast-Rate Faculty Team
The university has over 765 full-time faculty members among them over 40 international staff members. It also has 1410 researchers as well as other staff members. Over 95% of the faculty members hold a doctoral degree. The faculty members are not only actively involved in the research but also very much dedicated to teaching as they strive for nothing but excellence. They are always encouraged to conduct curriculum reform studies and through the grants provided by the university very effective teaching strategies. To ensure the quality of teaching assistants, assessment programs and seminars are always carried out.
The university also provides the students with grants so that they can be motivated to form groups to aid in advancing their communication skills and critical thinking. NTHU has five members of its faculty as winners of the Presidential Science Prize, 33 National Chairs of the Ministry of Education and 18 members of the Academia Sinica
High-Quality Talent Cultivation
It has indicators which affirm that NTHU plays a major role in the development of talent in China. Some of the indicators include high employment rates as well as a high degree of job satisfaction among both graduate and undergraduate level alumni. There is also a high pass rate for major professional qualification exams among NTHU students. Some of the notable figures from NTHU include Dr, Cheng-Ning Yang, who has two Nobel prizes in Physics, Tsung-Dao Lee, who has one Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
NTHU has more than 11,942 students which can be broken down into about 6, 233 undergraduate students, 3,916 master’s students and 1,793 doctoral students. Among them are 529 international students.
Continuous Increase in Quality of Education and Research
The research outcomes of the NTHU are quite innovative and of great interest to the society and industry. NTHU’s research and development focus on applied sciences, advanced basic sciences, and industry collaborations. The university promotes top-notch researchers as well as interdisciplinary, international collaboration projects.
NTHU is currently investigating the following topics: the revolutions of the celestial spheres, ultra-high speed broadband network, biomedical technology, neural structure and so much more. According to the National Academy of Inventors in the US, NTHU ranks number 11 worldwide in the US patents granted numbers to academic institutions in 2014. Also, NTHU has incubated more than 140 companies among them, 11 which are listed on IPO.
NTHU has 26 research centers among them, 16 which are directly under the Office of Research and Development, six under the College of Technology Management, one under the College of Life Sciences and three under the College of Engineering. The researchers at NTSU have published 17 papers in Nature and seventeen papers in Science from 1994 to 2013. Between 2014 and 2015, a total of 10,000 papers were published with other co-authors from 1000 institutions in 69 countries.
International and Domestic Cooperation
NTHU has established collaborative research relationships with renowned local and international institutions including the University of Minnesota, the Nuclear Energy Research Institute, Argonne National Laboratory and so much more.
Support for International Students
There is the Office of Global Affairs, Office of Academic Affairs as well as Office of Student Affairs across campus which helps the international students through campus and even before their arrival at NTHU. There are also two clubs which work closely with international students including Taiwanese Friend Ambassador Association- TFAA-
The university offers more that 150 student clubs which are all designed to enhance the students’ social, intellectual and leadership skills.They include music and entertainment, arts and craft, service, student associations, sports and so much more. NTHU has facilities such as an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, ball courts, track and field and the students are highly encouraged to use them for their fitness and wellness.
