Every business person wonders about the secret to success. Sometimes networking is necessary, but that’s not the only answer. The root of success lies within the person. A sound body and a sound mind bring people to their best. Some rely on spirituality to build a healthy mind and the words found in Buddhism has helped people do so. Buddhist quotes may lead you towards unlocking the secret to your success.

The only thing that you have to do is read them, sit with the words and then understand them. I’m going to list a few relevant Buddhist quotes to use when thinking about your success in your business and life.

1. Should a seeker not find a companion who is better or equal, let them resolutely pursue a solitary course

Sometimes your path may be a lonely one. Don’t think that you need someone with you at all times on your journey. Apply this quote towards building a team for a new business. You should surround yourself with people that are capable of doing great things with you, or people that will challenge you to become better. Do not border yourself with people that are stagnant; their negative ways will only result in your failure.

2. There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting.

Should’ve, could’ve, would’ve. The terrifying thing to do in life is to jump. But don’t let the fear stop you from completing anything towards your success. Many business people could’ve stopped in the middle of their path, as the genesis of companies is never easy.

Businesses begin with a minuscule idea that has to be nurtured into something tangible. It takes a lot of time to make a dream into reality. A lot of hours staying up late, being rejected and starting from the beginning. Take the chances. Where would Steve Jobs be without starting out in his garage? Or Oprah Winfrey if she believed her producer when he told her she was “unfit of TV”? If you have an idea or a dream, take it and run with it.

3. If the problem can be solved why worry? If the problem cannot be solved worrying will do you no good.

All worrying does is turn your hair gray. You’ll wake up one morning with wrinkles and liver spots and still have the same problems. Nothing comes from worrying because it never solves the problem at hand.

If you come to a wall at work, and there’s no way around it or a way to knock it down, you must find another route. Sitting with a problem that you know you can’t fix is stagnant behavior, and is not the behavior of a successful person. Think creatively for a solution, embrace your inner genius and fix the problems that have answers. Don’t let walls tell you no.

4. You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger.

This is one of my favorite of all Buddhist quotes. It applies to your life at work and your life as a whole. Reacting with anger is not the right answer, as it results in more anger. If you get angry at work, you need to find another way to release the anger, never hold onto it as it will do nothing but create a mound of coal in your spirit.

Creating a healthy spirit starts by understanding where the damaging emotions come from in your life. Let go of the Hulk; the Hulk is lonely because of his rage.

5. We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts, we make the world.

This one is the most important of the Buddhist quotes listed. If you have negative thoughts all the time, you will only bring more negativity in your life. Think about a field of flowers, consider yourself as Ironman. Having superpowers, fighting against the evil in your world.

Create the business that you think people need right now that will solve a problem. Changing your thoughts is an essential step to becoming a success. Positively shifting your perspective will bring you into a better place. Create the world where you’re the superhero.

To become a success, you need to have a mind and spirit that’s in tune with each other. These Buddhist quotes, are just some out of many that can help you mold yourself into a better person. CEOs have to deal with the negative and positive, and if you’re starting an innovative business, you need to be ready to take the punches. Find ways to bring balance into your life, and you will see the results in your work.
